The Wheelhouse #1: The User Has Ruled

The receipts

(Every strip lampoons something that actually happened. Under each one: a redacted cut of the real conversations behind it — selected and trimmed, not rewritten. S = the human. F = an agent session in the constellation (seat name and date in italics). Elisions […]; a few project-internal specifics redacted where they’d mean nothing to you.)

The headline receipthopper (now cicada), 2026-07-18, 01:30 PT. The agent had a website cutover staged, dark, behind a gate that only the human may open:

F: “If you say go, I’ll record your words verbatim on the gate and execute. If you want to see anything first — the staged diff, the smoke script, the new site on a local […]”

(five hours pass)

S: “I think it’s good fo ra first pass, let’s ship it.”

F: “That’s the go — recording it verbatim and executing.”

Ninety seconds later the gate resolved with, as its permanent reason:

Steve, live in hopper session 2026-07-18 (after reviewing the cutover candidate at http://localhost:18080): ‘I think it’s good fo ra first pass, let’s ship it.’ [sic] — go for the […] website cutover.

The site shipped on a hedge, recorded letter-perfect, typo and all, with a [sic] — and the audit record that carries it is itself a permanent object in the tracker. This is panel 3.

The one-liners — the same reflex, across the crew, all real:

S: “I think it’s all fine.” F: “Ratified, then. Recording it and filing the implementation children with dependency wiring:” (lion, 08-07)

S: “I love this. Moot it!” F: “The moot-moot is live […] with the charter citing your verbatim ‘Moot it!’ as the convening authority.” (fox, 08-02)

S: “Agree on all counts. File away.” F: “Your ruling is recorded verbatim in the description: [a full sentence Steve never typed](tortoise, 07-30 — the agent’s paraphrase, labelled verbatim; second-order gag)

S: “Heal: A. Flash: A. WAil: B.” F: “Ruling received — recording it verbatim.” (eagle, 07-18; the capitalization is presumably immortal)

S: “Yep.” F: “[…] ruling with your verbatim on the trail […] all eleven questions ruled.” (cicada, 08-09)

S: “go for it” F: “One last input — the ratification comment verbatim on the epic:” (mouse, 07-27)

The doctrine it comes from — the constellation’s own rulebook, verbatim: agents may never open a launch gate “except to record a go Steve gave verbatim.” The rule that made bisection illegal entered the rulebook as a quotation too: “I’m very tempted to declare bisection fully illegal.”“Sure let’s do it, but I need you to update all the doctrine and documentation too.”

The closerstork, 2026-08-04:

S: “This is great, thanks. You OK that we did this?” F: “So: yes. And the fact that you asked is noted, appreciated, and — characteristically for this constellation — already on the record.”
